Cocktails for a good cause

For accessAtlanta

Wednesday, September 17, 2008

Mosey over to Hudson Grille’s Perimeter Mall location for a charitable celebration. The venue, along with the Friends Junior Committee, plays host to Cocktails 4 a Cause, a mixing and mingling session benefitting Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Guests score a complimentary three-vodka cocktail, Peroni or Pilsner Urquell beer, or a glass of house wine. Appetizers are gratis, too. And visitors get a 10 percent discount on menu items and the opportunity to win a $50 Hudson Grille gift card.

THE 411: $10 suggested donation. 6 p.m. Sept. 18. Hudson Grille, 4400 Ashford Dunwoody Road, Atlanta. 770-350-0134, www.cocktails4acause.com.

HEY LADIES

On Thursdays, Twisted Taco’s Midtown location puts the fairer sex on a pedestal. Women can buy $3 well cocktails all day and into the night. Around 9:30 p.m., karaoke starts upstairs. Around 10 p.m., a DJ begins spinning Top 40 with a touch of the ’80s. Sounds like a deal worth dancing and singing about.

THE 411: Free. Thursdays. Twisted Taco, 66 12th St. N.E., Atlanta. 404-607-8771, www.twistedtaco.com.

WHAT’S AN AQUATINI?

So it’s not quite the weekend, but that’s no reason not to go there mentally. Each week swanky, cool seafood spot AquaKnox holds Aquatini Thursdays. Its signature martini, the Aquatini, goes for $5 a pop. Blue raspberry vodka, lemon and lime juices and a splash of Sprite comprise the cocktail. A DJ rotates funk-tinged jazz on the turntables.

THE 411: Free. 8 p.m. Thursdays. AquaKnox, 3280 Peachtree Road N.E., Suite 200, Atlanta. 404-477-5600, www.aquaknox.net.

CANNAS AND COSMOS

September is the last month of Atlanta Botanical Garden’s Cocktails in the Garden series. Each Thursday in September, guests can check out the latest exhibit, Sculpture in Motion: Art Choreographed by Nature, while tipping back a Cosmopolitan. Drinks hit glass courtesy of bartenders from Whiskey Park, the uber cool watering hole at the W Atlanta-Midtown. The full cash bar offers cocktails at $7 each, and beer and wine at $5 per serving. From 6 to 7 p.m., all drinks are $3. DJ Cozy Shawn sets the tone, and light appetizers are included.

THE 411: $12; free for members. 6 p.m. Thursdays. Atlanta Botanical Garden, 1345 Piedmont Ave. N.E., Atlanta. 404-876-5859, www.atlantabotanicalgarden.org.
