It’s almost time for the 13th annual BronzeLens Film Festival! All the fun will take place from Aug. 23-28.

The line-up for the festival includes daily screenings by independent filmmakers from around the globe, workshops, panel discussions, the BronzeLens Awards and much more. Attendees are in for a special treat this year as there will be a screening of the legendary Dionne Warwick’s documentary, “Dionne Warwick: Don’t Make Me Over” at Regal Atlantic Station. In addition to that screening, this year’s festival includes 124 movies from the next generation of BIPOC filmmakers, with categories ranging from fiction to shorts to documentaries.

The festival itself is dedicated to bringing worldwide attention to Atlanta as a center for film production for people of color. What’s cool about the festival is not only are they aimed at promoting Atlanta as the new film mecca for people of color but also to showcase films and provide networking opportunities that will develop the next generation of filmmakers. Like most businesses, networking is key.

There will also be several women who will be honored with the BronzeLens Women SuperStars award – including Kim Fields, Eva Marcille and Salli Richardson-Whitfield. Previous winners include actress and producer, Regina Hall.

The BronzeLens Film Festival has received a number of honors for the work they are doing to put Atlanta’s next generation of BIPOC filmmakers on the map. Festival honors include - Oscar Qualifying Festival for the Short Film Award since 2017 and the Phoenix Award, which is the highest honor an individual or group can receive from the Mayor of Atlanta.

The 13th Annual BronzeLens Film Festival will be held from Aug. 23-28. The festival will be topped off by an awards show at the Carter Center on Aug. 28. If you want to get your tickets or learn more about the festival, visit bronzelens.eventive.org.
