Fashion designer Christian Siriano showcases never-before-displayed gowns at SCAD FASH
It’s a fashion paradise and you get to see it up close and personal!
Fashion designer Christian Siriano is giving us an up close and personal look at his amazing creations. The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) currently has the “People Are People” exhibit, honoring Siriano at SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion + Film (SCAD FASH) on display. With more than 60 designs put on view, the designer’s decade-plus career truly embraces glamour and self-expression for everyone at every age.
“No designer understands people as well as Christian Siriano,” said Paula Wallace, SCAD President and Founder. “Celebs love his designs - Billy Porter, Amy Adams, Zendaya and Lizzo sing his praises. But what sets Christian apart is his belief that fashion is for everyone - and when we zip up a Siriano design, we are all stars.”
The looks in this exhibit are truly amazing – it features extraordinary gowns and red-carpet looks from the designer’s archives, including many of his greatest runway moments and garments worn by the world’s biggest stars. I’ve already mentioned some but the list is so much longer - Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, legendary songstresses Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez, LGBTQ+ champions Laverne Cox, Michael Urie and Jonathan Van Ness, actresses Alicia Silverstone, Regina King and Danielle Brooks, pop sensations Taylor Swift, Janelle Monáe, Lizzo and Sia, rappers Lil’ Kim, and Cardi B and we can’t forget about the international top models Heidi Klum, Naomi Campbell, Coco Rocha and Ashley Graham. People Are People also features never-before-displayed gowns worn during the 2022 red-carpet season.
This isn’t the first time Siriano has been honored by SCAD – he was previously recognized during the exhibition’s debut at the SCAD Museum of Art in 2021. The Fashion Designer actually attended the opening reception of the exhibit and was very appreciative. “To have my work featured in a solo exhibition at SCAD not once but twice is such an unbelievable honor,” Siriano said. “I’m so grateful to SCAD for recognizing the dedication that my team and I have put toward my brand for the last 14 years. I hope that with this exhibition, I can encourage others to persevere and continue to create. Without art, this world would be incredibly ordinary, and I hope that this exhibition inspires young artists to push the boundaries and make the world extraordinary with their work.”
Christian Siriano’s exhibit will be on view through Oct. 9 at SCAD FASH. Check out the digital guide to “People Are People” by visiting guide.scadfash.org. If you’re looking to grab tickets to see these amazing creations in person, you can get them at scadfashorg.
