Ludacris, Lil Rel Howery and Teyonah Parris to star in Atlanta-filmed ‘Dashing Through The Snow’
It’ll be a holiday treat the whole family can enjoy!
Disney has been working on the holiday comedy, “Dashing Through The Snow,” since 2016 and it looks like it’s finally a reality with a solid lineup. Leading the cast will be Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Lil Rel Howery and Teyonah Parris. If you read about the movie when it was first announced, there is one notable name missing. It was initially reported that Kevin Hart was in talks to play Santa Claus, but it looks like that is no longer on the table.
The movie’s backdrop is right here in Atlanta and centers around “a divorced social worker who can’t stand Christmas thanks to a bad childhood memory. During Christmas Eve celebrations with his daughter, he’s interrupted with a work call and ends up accidentally inciting the wrath of a local politician. Along the way, he encounters a man who helps teach him the magic of Christmas.”
Ludacris is a busy man these days, as he is not only is filming “Dashing Through the Snow,” but he’s also currently filming the eleventh installment in the “Fast and Furious” franchise, “Fast X.” The rapper turned actor is also starring alongside Queen Latifah in the Netflix thriller “End of the Road” that releases on Sept. 9. His co-leads are pretty booked and busy themselves – Parris, who starred in “Candyman” last year, will be reprising her role as Monica Rambeau in “WandaVision” in next year’s “The Marvels.” It could be called a miracle that Howery had time to film, as he is involved in several projects this year, including “Spin Me Round,” “I Love My Dad,” “Deep Water,” “Luck,” and “Harold and the Purple Crayon” due to premiere in 2023.
The cast also includes Oscar Nuñez, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Ravi Patel, Marcus Lewis, and Madison Skye Validum. Directing and executive producing the movie is “Ride Along” filmmaker Tim Story. Joining Story is his fellow “Ride Along” producer, Will Packer. Packer’s credits also include “Girls Trip,” “Night School,” and “Think Like a Man.”
The film is set to premiere on Disney+ during the 2023 holiday season.
