Funeral for Migos rapper Takeoff to be held Friday at State Farm Arena
Details have been released about the funeral arrangements for the late rapper Takeoff.
The Atlanta-raised Migos member will be laid to rest Friday, Nov. 11, at State Farm Arena. Jesse Curney III, the pastor of New Mercies Christian Church in Lilburn, confirmed to Channel 2 Action News that he will give the eulogy. Tickets are going to be made available at 2 p.m. on Tuesday (Nov. 8).
Takeoff, whose real name is Kirshnik Khari Ball, was shot and killed Nov. 1 outside of a bowling alley in Houston. Takeoff was pronounced dead at the scene after an argument led to gunfire from at least two weapons, the Houston Police Department said.
Takeoff rose to stardom with his uncle Quavo and cousin Offset, originally named the Polo Club. The trio later changed their name to Migos and had their breakout hit, “Versace,” which helped push them to stardom in 2013 and landed a remix from Drake. Migos became one of the most successful hip-hop acts and rap groups of all time, as evidenced by their 20 RIAA-certified platinum and gold singles and albums, including their Hot 100 No. 1 hit “Bad and Boujee.”

Many celebrities and fans have taken to social media to express their heartbreak over Takeoff’s passing. Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens also took the time to remember Takeoff and the legacy he left behind via an Instagram video. Mayor Dickens’ caption stated, in part, “His loss hurts. I’ve met him. I’ve shared space with the whole crew. I wanted to talk to them before talking about it. Losing him hurts...” Offset recently changed his profile pictures across his social media platforms to images including, or of Takeoff.
The public memorial will follow a strict no photo and no video policy, they said. All devices will be checked before entering the arena.
This is such a heartbreaking loss for so many, so I’m sure State Farm Arena will be packed, inside and out. Continued thoughts and prayers go out to Takeoff’s family.
