Waka Flocka Flame to perform at Atlanta Dream halftime show
It’s time to really go hard in the paint with Waka Flocka Flame!
The WNBA’s Atlanta Dream announced a halftime show for the books, with award-winning music and television star Waka Flocka Flame. He’ll be performing during the Aug. 3 game, when the Dream takes on the Indiana Fever at Gateway Center Arena.
The Atlanta-based rapper has had a lot of success in the music industry for more than a decade. His first studio album, “Flockaveli,” debuted at number six on the U.S. Billboard 200 in 2010. After that, he’s racked up a number of accolades, including winning a BET Hip Hop Award for his collaboration with Roscoe Dash and Wale, “No Hands” and being named the eighth hottest MC of the year by MTV. Waka has also collaborated with Grammy Award-nominated artist and Atlanta native, Gucci Mane on his album “Ferrari Boyz.”
“Yo Atlanta! Imma be with y’all cheering in the crowd against Indiana on August third, and we gonna crush they spirits with the most turned up halftime show in basketball,” Waka Flocka said. “See y’all on the third! Squad!” If you know anything about a Waka Flocka performance, you know he puts on a show and is going to make sure everyone in the audience has a good time.
Waka is no stranger to the small screen – he’s appeared on several reality shows, including VH1 show “Love and Hip-Hop: Atlanta,” “Growing Up Hip-Hop: Atlanta” and more recently, “Waka & Tammy: What the Flocka.”
For the team’s home opener, which was a sold-out crowd FYI, the Dream brought out Atlanta native Omerettà The Great to perform her hit song “Sorry Not Sorry.”
