Celebrate Pride at these Atlanta events and festivals
Even though Atlanta’s annual Pride festival isn’t until October, there’s still opportunities to mark LGBTQ+ Pride Month this month with the rest of the country.
If you’re looking to celebrate, here is a list of Pride-related events and festivals happening in and around Atlanta this month:
Atlanta Pride Run at Piedmont Park
For more than 30 years, the Atlanta Pride 5K Run has helped raise money and awareness for LGBTQ+ communities in the greater Atlanta area. This year’s event will take place in Piedmont Park and will offer both virtual and in-person options. The race will begin at 8:30 a.m., with check-in beginning at 7 a.m.
When you’ve finished the course — or simply decided it’s time to party — head to Guac y Margys Midtown for a post-race celebration.
The Athens Pride and Queer Collective is proud to announce the first-ever Athens Pride Parade, which will take place in Downtown Athens on June 12th. Join in on the city’s historic moment and show your support for queer communities and progress. The parade will start near Creature Comforts on Hancock Street and end at Thomas Lay Park.
Time: 1:30 p.m. June 12; Location: Downtown Athens, Athens, GA 30601; Website: athenspride.org
