St. Patrick’s Day in Atlanta: Here are 16 events to paint the town green

St. Patrick’s Day in Atlanta is a time when longstanding celebrations crank up and friends turn out for all kinds of fun. Line up to watch a parade, dive into a block party or take your place at the starting line of a race. Here are all the fun local offerings this St. Paddy’s Day!

Lilberchaun

This longstanding tradition brings the community out for a walking parade at Lilburn City Park. Don your festive finest and bring your kids and pets for a great time that will include live music, cultural performances, a car show and best-dressed Lilberchaun awards!

Irish Fest - Norcross

In collaboration with the Drake School of Irish Dance and the Norcross Business Association, the city of Norcross brings forth Irish Fest. It’s a day of music, dancing, balloon twisters, face painting, food and more. Bring the family out for this St. Paddy’s Day celebration!

24th Annual St. Baldrick’s Head Shaving Event

Sign up to shave your head and help raise money for children’s cancer research through St. Baldrick’s, the charity funder for research grants. Have some fun for a good cause: It’s all happening at Fadó Irish Pub in Buckhead.

St. Patrick’s Day Midtown Block Party

Live music, food and fun! It’s all waiting for you during this epic Midtown block party. Try the authentic Irish food, and dance the day away at one of the biggest parties in town.

Fado St. Patrick’s Day Block Party

One of Atlanta’s best-known Irish pubs will once again host its annual block party. The doors will open early in the morning for Six Nations Rugby, keg and eggs and more. Outdoor partying starts at 1 p.m. for those over 21; events outdoors end at 10 p.m., but those who want to continue celebrating can do so inside.

Marietta Shamrock Shuffle 5K

This Peachtree Road Race qualifier starts at 8 a.m. sharp and sends runners through downtown Marietta. Round up your friends and family and prepare to start your St. Paddy’s Day chasing the luck ‘o the Irish!

Atlanta St. Patrick’s Parade 5K Run/Walk

Whether you intend to run or walk, get out and get moving to kick off your St. Patrick’s Day celebrations! This longstanding 5K begins on Peachtree Road and proceeds through Midtown and Piedmont Park to finish on Peachtree Street.

Atlanta St. Patrick’s Day Parade

The Atlanta St. Patrick’s Day Parade bills itself as the city’s longest-running event! This moving celebration steps off from Peachtree Street at noon, but viewers should arrive by 11 a.m. Bring the whole family to witness this glittering celebration of Irish culture!

Suwanee Beer Fest

You’ll find more than 400 craft beers from across the nation at this 21-and-over event. Live music, axe throwing and live music abound alongside food trucks, vendors and artists. You’ll also find cocktails, seltzers, wines and liquors, and look for the Georgia Beer Garden, featuring more than 70 local brews.

ShamROCK: A St. Patrick’s Day Festival

St. Patrick’s Hooley

Outdoor events abound in the side lot at O’Reilly’s Public House. Enjoy a Guinness beer truck and Six Nations Rugby. Live music begins at 12:30 p.m. and includes Zach Stich, The Roundabouts and Kate Curran. Ages 21 and over. St. Patrick’s events at O’Reilly’s begin March 14 and extend 23 and include a St. Paw-Trick’s Day event for dogs on March 22. See website for details.

Kiss Me, I’m Irish St. Patrick’s Day Bar Crawl

If it’s an old-fashioned bar crawl you’re after on St. Patrick’s Day, look no further than this two-day iteration! Participating venues include Sebastian Pintxos Bar, Kat’s Cafe, Embr Lounge, Taco Mac and more.

Olde Town Conyers St. Patrick’s Day

Rain or shine, this parade, which began in 1980, will roll through Conyers. This is a two-block walking parade complete with bagpipers and local businesses and organizations. Also, look out for the crowning of the children’s parade king and queen and awards for leprechaun lookalike contest winners and best-dressed pet!

Northside St. Patrick’s Festival by the Springs

This family friendly event will take place at the City Springs Entertainment Lawn at Heritage Sandy Springs. Experience Irish-themed arts, dance and music, stroll a vendor village and let your little ones enjoy the kids corner. There will be plenty of food and drink available, too!
